COMMUNITY CONVERSATION: Intersecting With Autism
January 30 at 7:15pm

Chad Jones, Director of Community Service – Viewpoint Health

More than 3.5 million Americans live with an autism spectrum disorder. It occurs in all racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups. Aurora’s current production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, based on the popular novel of the same name, has a protagonist on the autism spectrum. The performance is designed to give the viewer empathy and to simulate what the experience of daily life is like for a high-functioning person with one form of an autism spectrum disorder.

This community conversation will increase awareness and provide understanding about this complex medical condition and how we can help people with this challenging diagnosis thrive in our community.

View Point Health offers Autism Youth Specialty Services as a part of the Community CARE program. Autism Services provides individuals and families with individualized Applied Behavior Analysis therapy, crisis behavior reduction, and wrap around services in their home and/or school setting. Autism Services will serve individuals between 3-20 years of age. Through wrap around services we are able to create a specialized plan of care for each individual. We will develop services for the whole person while teaching caregivers, professionals and families how to master a variety of skills to help that individual reach their fullest potential in both home and community settings. We look forward to seeing you before the show and will be happy to answer any questions.
