 Auditions will be held in the Borders Rehearsal Hall (enter the Lawrenceville Arts Center and follow the arrows pointing towards the hall)
First Rehearsal: July 15, 2025
Opening Night: August 14, 2025
(Thursdays-Saturdays at 8PM, Saturday & Sunday at 2:30PM. 10AM on Wednesday 8/10)
Closing Night: September 7, 2025 (Possible extension to September 14, 2025)

AEA Open Call (Day 1): April 12 | 2PM – 10PM
AEA Open Call (Day 2): April 13 | 10AM – 7PM
Callbacks: April 15, 2025 | 12PM – 8PM
(Movement calls will be held during callbacks)
(We will accept video submissions if you are not available during these dates, but strongly encourage artists to audition in person)

Non-Equity Auditions – Please prepare one (1) book side and one (1) music side in the folder for the character for which you’d like to be considered. Those auditioning for the ensemble may choose one (1) book side and one (1) music side for any character. 

AEA Auditions – Please prepare one (1) book side and one (1) music side in the folder for the character for which you’d like to be considered. Those auditioning for the ensemble may choose one (1) book side and one (1) music side for any character. Please be prepared to attend a movement call.

Callbacks – Please prepare all the material in the folder for the character for which you’ve been called in. And be prepared to learn a short movement call. 

DOROTHY (This role has been precast)Bright eyed and alive as can be. Teenager who feels like she doesn’t belong. A seeker with a big heart and the capacity to be braver than she thinks. 

  • Vocal Range: Mezzo (G3 – Bb5)
  • Female Presenting Character 
  • Ethnicity: Black
  • Age: 16 – 25

 

SCARECROW- Tired of being a scarecrow and the prospect of not going anywhere. Embarks on the journey to see The Wiz in hopes he can provide a brain. Big hearted and fiercely protective of his new friend Dorothy. Dances exceptionally well. 

  • Vocal Range: Tenor (A2 – A4)
  • Male Presenting Character 
  • Ethnicity: Black
  • Age: Any

 

TIN MAN- Human at one time but lost all his limbs to a cursed axe. Joins in the journey in hopes the Wiz will provide him a heart because “it isn’t enough to be good looking.” Deeply curious and clever, a real leader in the group. He is seeking a heart but has enormous compassion.

  • Vocal Range: Baritenor (D3 – Bb4)
  • Male Presenting Character 
  • Ethnicity: Black
  • Age: Any

 

LION- Travels around the jungle scaring people, but has “a yellow streak a mile wide.” Empathic, kind soul who masks his insecurity with bravado. Joins in the journey to see the Wiz, seeking the confidence and kindness Dorothy provides.

  • Male Presenting Character

THE WIZ- All-powerful leader over the land of Oz. The ultimate con artist. Smooth double talker with incredible charm. Larger than life.

  • Vocal Range: Tenor (C3 – A4)
  • Male Presenting Character 
  • Ethnicity: Black
  • Age: 40+

 

AUNT EM- Dorothy’s Aunt. Life has not been easy for her and promises little else. Can be harsh towards Dorothy at times, but acts out of love, determined to ensure Dorothy belongs there. 

  • Vocal Range: Mezzo Soprano/Alto (G3 – C5)
  • Female Presenting Character 
  • Ethnicity: Black
  • Age: 40+

 

UNCLE HENRY- Dorothy’s Uncle. Physically run-down from years of hard work on the farm. Often acts as the voice of reason.

  • Vocal Range: Non-singing. Doubles in Ensemble.
  • Male Presenting Character 
  • Ethnicity: Black
  • Age: 40+

 

ADDAPERLE- Good Witch of the North. Guardian and protector of the Munchkins. When using her powers and “doing tricks,” her magical abilities don’t always pan out as well as she would like them to.

  • Vocal Range: Alto (F3 – C5)
  • Female Presenting Character 
  • Ethnicity: Black
  • Age: Any Age

 

EVILLENE- Wicked Witch of the West. Low-down evil. Not a kind bone in her body nor kind thought in her rotten mind. Big personality both evil and fierce. Cunning and ruthless but with style. The original Diva. 

  • Vocal Range: Alto (G3-Db5)
  • Female Presenting Character 
  • Ethnicity: Black
  • Age: Any Age

 

GLINDA- Good Witch of the South. Very wise in the way of show-business. Generous, protective and encouraging soul. Your favorite Auntie.

  • Vocal Range: Soprano/Mezzo Soprano (C4-D6)
  • Female Presenting Character

  • Age: Any Age

 

ENSEMBLE- Need dynamic personalities – fantastic singers and/or excellent dancers to play various roles in the ensemble, including Munchkins, Crows, Kalidahs, Poppies, Field Mice, Emerald City Citizens, Soldiers, Messenger.

  • Gender: We are looking to cast artists of any gender to play the male and female characters in the ensemble.
