This romantic romp is full of dreams, schemes and lavish musical numbers set in the golden age mecca of Manhattan in the 1950’s, with a twist. It’s an alternative gleaming, fabulous and mighty Big Apple. And two of our leading men are looking for husbands, oh my!

BILL NELSON (book and lyrics) hails from New York City. Among his theatrical works is the award-winning Harmony, Kansas, written with Anna K. Jacobs. Bill’s works have been seen across the country, and his songs have been presented around the world, including at Lincoln Center’s Broadway’s Future Songbook: Bill Nelson and Bill Nelson’s Nutcrackin’ Christmas. William Finn conceived and directed Bill Nelson’s All-Male Revuefor Barrington Stages. Men with Money, written with Joseph Trefler, has been presented in concert at Lincoln Center. Originally from the Midwest, Bill co-founded a theatre company in Kansas City. He received an M.F.A. in Musical Theatre Writing at NYU-Tisch and is a Dramatists Guild Foundation fellow and member of the Advanced BMI Workshop. JOSEPH TREFLER (music and additional lyrics) is a New York-based composer-lyricist originally from Toronto, Canada. His musicals include A LADYLIKE MURDER (Isabel Bader Theatre, Toronto, 2012), THE BAD IDEAS OF JACK ANDREWS with bookwriter-lyricist Seth Christenfeld (NAAP DISCOVER: New Musicals 2017), and MEN WITH MONEY with bookwriter-lyricist Bill Nelson. His song “Broken City,” written with lyricist Alex Wind, was featured in the HBO documentary SONG OF PARKLAND (directed by eight-time Emmy Award winner Amy Schatz). In 2016, a concert of Joseph’s songs was performed as part of Lincoln Center’s BROADWAY’S FUTURE SONGBOOK series. Joseph is co-founder and co-artistic director of the Canadian Musical Theatre Writers Collective (CMTWC). He received his Bachelor of Music from the University of Toronto and his MFA from the Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program, Tisch School of the Arts, NYU. www.josephtrefler-composer.com |
