LeylisMR. Leylis Burnette was born in Ica, Peru in 1986. She received her bachelor’s in art education (Visual Arts) from Sérvulo Gutiérrez Art School Peru in 2006, concluding her studies with honorable mentions accomplishing a gold medal for graduating first in her class. Burnette’s artworks have been exhibited in her country and abroad such as The United States, Germany, Bolivia, Colombia, and Mexico, including shows at the Brazilian Embassy in Peru, Ministry of Cultural Affairs Peru, IX International Art Biennale SUBA Colombia, Coca-Cola Company Headquarters, Decatur Arts Alliance juried fine art competition and exhibition, The Hambidge Center Annual Art Auction, The Quinlan Arts Center Annual Gala Auction, Douglas County Courthouse, Institut Für Alles Mögliche Germany, Latin American Chamber of Commerce of Georgia, Latino Art Museum California, Agua Fuerte Gallery Mexico, among others. Her works have been also featured in compilations of contemporary poetry and art by female artists. Her passion for art is not limited to painting. She also embraced other disciplines like music, theater, poetry, Peruvian folkloric dance enriching her artwork inspiration in a philosophical interpretation. Burnette resides in Atlanta, where she continues her incessant effort as an artist and art educator.
