Tex López


Tex López Tex López is the creator and founder of ArTex Centro Cultural Independiente in Los Altos de Chiapas where he serves as director. He is a painter, muralist, traditional musician, cultural promoter, lecturer, workshop leader and winner of the 2022 State Youth Award. He is currently the vice president of the parents’ association for the education of his town. His career
began in the town’s House of Culture at the age of 12. 10 years later, he was named director of the Cultural Center of his municipality. He has won state and national awards, has served as a jury member in different painting contests, has illustrated several book and magazine covers, and has painted a series of murals inside and outside of Mexico. It is part of the book “Faces of Mayan-Zoque Art of Chiapas”. He has two diplomas, Colonial painting from the INHA, and Applied Oil from the School of Arts and Crafts of Nuevo León. He has held several exhibitions inside and outside Mexico. In 2017 he presented two painting exhibitions in Tokyo, Japan with the master Akio Hanafuji. In 2023 and 2024 he toured the United States, visiting the cities of Atlanta, Tampa Florida, Orlando, Cairo, Georgia, Miami and New York. And in the European Union he has visited Paris, Zurich, Bern, Switzerland and Italy.
